INFRASTRUCTURE, FROM CONSTRUCTION TO MAINTENANCE

H4A possesses all the knowledge and expertise necessary to carry out infrastructure projects in the broadest sense of the word. You can call on us for the construction of (asphalt) roads, roundabouts, infrastructural artworks, and city squares, including the leveling of the associated groundwork. We also perform earthworks ranging from the construction of ditches and dikes, dredging surface water, to leveling building sites or sports fields. Additionally, H4A is your go-to for the installation, replacement, and maintenance of sewer systems. With our skilled personnel and equipment, we do this in an environmentally friendly, safe, and flexible manner.

ASPHALT MAINTENANCE

In addition to laying asphalt, we also perform maintenance and repairs. For example, we seal cracks in the asphalt to prevent weakening of the top layer, thereby extending the asphalt’s lifespan. The filling is applied quickly and easily using the Overseal Banding system. This can be carried out amidst traffic, with the necessary precautions, of course. Other repair methods we use include two-component asphalt or cold asphalt repair with bitumen and gravel. We can protect the asphalt’s top layer by applying wear layers if necessary. We have all the knowledge and expertise required to always find an appropriate solution.

ZVAC, THE ZEEUWS-VLAAMSE ASPHALT PLANT

For over 50 years, we owned our own plant: the Zeeuws-Vlaamse Asphalt Plant. In 2023, H4A decided to close the asphalt plant. The modifications needed for the plant and the significant investments required to meet future environmental regulations led to this decision. Additionally, the energy prices, which constitute a large portion of asphalt production costs, expedited this decision.

H4A is committed to sustainability and environmental consciousness and joined the Asphalt Production Company (APM) in Bergen op Zoom, the most sustainable asphalt plant in the Netherlands. APM has initiated an investment program to meet all relevant environmental and emission standards now and in the future. With this, H4A also contributes to the ambition of proactively transforming the asphalt industry into a 100% circular and sustainable sector. We continue to innovate for tomorrow while delivering good and reliable asphalt for today.

The experienced H4A team continues to perform asphalt work for the Province of Zeeland, Rijkswaterstaat, municipalities, industrial companies, and individuals. Additionally, we maintain our own laboratory where our asphalt technologists ensure the composition and quality of the asphalt through research and control.

H4A also participates in the biobased economy through initiatives such as Bioway.
